What’s Up with Paul Oppenheim

A simple update to reaffirm everyone’s suspicion that I’m Not Dead.

My birthday has come and gone. On the day in question Rachel made me a lovely steak dinner and baked me a cake, but more importantly decorated the apartment and just made it a special night. I also had a party, and I would like to thank Kevin, Greg, Jennie, Matt, Ben, Mat D, Vishal, Jenny, Mirnali, Juan, Desiree, Sean, Ricky, Micah, and Kristen for coming by. I make sure nobody feels left out :) It was such a great party because it was a great mix of people. That and the Mummenschanz.

On Thanksgiving Rachel and I drove up to San Rafael to be with her father and family. They decided to smoke the turkey which takes a longg enough time as it is, and so it was disappointing that the smoker had gone out earlier in the day. Luckily this was noticed before too long, and we got to eat delicious smoked turkey in short order. The rest of the food, sweet potatoes, home-made stuffing, cranberries and all the other fixings were just as excellent as well. Rachel’s family also has the tradition of putting on a short play after dinner, which was something new and creative for me to experience. Thanks for having me.

In other news, I needed to get a new cell phone because my Sony-Ericsson T610 died. As a replacement I first tried a Motorola V330 which is a wonderful flip phone, but the phonebook was seriously lacking for the amount of people I know. I then got the phone I realize I should have gotten in the first place: a Nokia N-Gage QD. This phone was designed to be a game system, and it kind of bombed. Horribly. However, as a simple bluetooth phone that has a good interface for gaming, it succeeded. It also has a flash memory slot that I already stuck a 1GB chip into. I am really digging this phone, and it was only $150 with no contract. I’m pretty sure if I signed a contract I would have been given money to take the phone.

Anyhow, it’s late. I just wanted to make sure nobody felt left out on the details.
