Blog may be down shortly - dreamhost support problems
I’m having account issues with my hosting / domain registration company, and I may be switching servers soon, so my blog (and websites!) may be offline in the near future. Just letting you all know! And a transcript for those of you who also host with Dreamhost (and I know there’s a few of you) follows…

I tried to merge this account (webID Y) to my existing account (webID X) and it wouldn’t go. The error said it was because I signed up X with a promo code. I’ve been a customer over a year, and I’d really like to merge them.
Unless there’s another way to do what I want to do. I want to keep the domain active and move it to X’s account. I would then like to cancel the hosting on Y. If I can do that without merging, please let me know how!

Your X account was opened with a promo code, and we don’t allow moving your existing domains there from another dreamhost account. So, you won’t be able the move your domains over from Y.

Promotional accounts are for new customers only, sorry. Once you have an account with us, you shouldn’t even be able to open a promotional one, and we won’t move your old domains to the new one, sorry.
