If you’ve ever tried to work remotely on a Windows machine from a Mac (whether or not you have the kind of job which lets you work at home) you know that Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Client for Mac sucks. Ahh, but I have found a solution!
While using Ubuntu Linux I found a great program called Terminal Services Client which internally uses a program called rdesktop. Well, how does rdesktop work on the Mac? Here’s an article that can help you make the experience seamless: Post details: rdesktop on the Mac. The only thing I did significantly differently was that I installed from the DarwinPorts rdesktop package instead of source. Enjoy, Mac breatheren.

Another option is to turn on Apple Remote Desktop on your Mac and use a VNC client on Windows. ARD uses VNC protocol. When you turn it on in the Sharing System Preference pane, click Access Privileges, then check “VNC viewers may control screen with password” and enter a good password.
The advantage of this is that no custom software need to installed on your Mac.
