Detroit: Cheap Houses
Man, the housing bubble in NorCal is ridiculous. It’s the opposite back in motown; the article title says it all:
Houses cheaper than cars in Detroit
I actually looked online for a housing auction site, and found that a lot of these houses are in heavily blighted areas such as 48215. (Yes, those green and brown spots are empty lots. Yes, this is in an “urban area.” For a quick background on Detroit’s blight issues, read about elmhurst and try and ignore the “racist jews” slant.)

sometimes i think … how awesome would it be, to be a millionaire, and just buy a couple blocks in detroit. i don’ know what detroit needs to do to get out of this slump. i see it as more than just an economy thing. there’s that 8 mile divide and people are moving to the suburbs. it’s a downward spiral. poor detroit …. … you can always buy a house in detroit from ebay :) hehe

It’s an economy thing, and it’s a mindset thing. Detroit has just had a bad image for a long time. Metro Detroit is taking a hit now too, and that’s actually unusual. Out here in CA things are booming, maybe even too much :) let’s start a business in the D, quick, while it’s cheap!
